The Perfect Scented Candle For “Millennial Titas”

Have you ever heard of the term “millennial tita?” If you’re a part of this category, then I feel you. Otherwise, here’s a little something about these millennial titas. They are the women who were born as the last generation in the 20th century but behave like they are already titas (aunts) in their own ways. These are the women who are typically in their 20’s but behave like they’re older. Ever heard of old souls? They’re somewhat like that.

Millennial titas are the ones who stay at home on a Friday night while the rest of their colleagues party the night away. They love frequenting the home appliances section of a department store and they find grocery shopping therapeutic. On weekends, some women like to unwind from the hell workweek they had by drinking with their friends. Meanwhile, these millennial titas are home with face masks on and their favorite scented candles by their bedside tables. Can you relate now? Wink, wink.

Now I don’t normally pay attention to scented candles, but I saw this particular brand online. The more I looked at the photos and the customer’s liking towards this brand, the more I got impressed. I looked up its Instagram account and saw several stores that I could go to. I thought it was worth a shot, so I went.

Aesthetically pleasing social media pages and accounts are really eye-catching. There’s no doubt about that. But for a somewhat picky customer like me, I also take curated feeds as a type of credibility on the part of the business. As a passion blogger, it’s a huge plus for me to see social media managers effectively doing their jobs. As for customers, well let’s be honest, humans are highly visual creatures. And with everything becoming digital nowadays, it’s a battle of digital designs and visual appeals for brands’ target markets.

When I saw Yankee Candle Philippines on Instagram, I thought of visiting one of its stores to see what the fuss is about. Yankee Candle PH re-posts photos posted by its customers so that was pretty helpful for me, being a new customer. Seeing its store in person was even better!

I went to the Uptown Mall branch. It was a good opportunity since I don’t frequent BGC and there’s a new mall I could check out. Yankee’s store isn’t that visible once you get inside the mall, but there’s no harm in asking around so that’s what I did. I came from the other side so I had to walk all the way back, but if you’re coming from the front entrance, just take the escalator to the second floor and then turn right. You’ll surely see the store once you round the corner since there are not yet that many stores there. It’s also pretty eye-catching because of the huge brand name at the entrance.

I love how going into this store was like entering Candle Heaven. It smelled so good, but the different scents coming from the candles didn’t make the store smell funny. You know, like when you can smell too many scents at the same time that you start feeling nauseous? It wasn’t like that at all.

The first thing I noticed when I entered Yankee Candle was the 25% sale signage on display. There is a total of four candles under their Fragrance Of The Month, namely Mango Peach Salsa, Peach Cobbler, Summer Scoop, and Cotton Candy. These are originally priced at Php 1,669. But you can purchase them this month for Php 1,251.75.  The sales lady who assisted me said that each candle can last up to 200+ hours. I thought that was pretty impressive. But for someone like me who seldom uses scented candles, I can guarantee that one jar would last me longer, which, in my opinion, is the exact definition of sulit.

I noticed how there were a lot of shelves in the store, each shelf containing 15 different scented candles at the least. I definitely see candle lovers having a hard time deciding what to buy. I’d like to make my mom my first victim if ever. She adores scented candles. And being the queen that she is, she deserves more than a generic scented candle from the department store.

I love how the Yankee branch in Uptown Mall is simplistic yet aesthetically pleasing. White walls can immediately make any room look cleaner and more organized, which is one thing I noticed about the store. It’s like the brand let the products do all the talking and give the room a pop of color. I also love how the jars were arranged according to hue. Overall, the store has a homey feel. It would be easy to spend half an hour in the store just looking at the different scented candles.Another thing I noticed were the categories per shelves. I absolutely love the diversity of these scented candles. Love lighting your candle in the kitchen while you cook? Go ahead to the Food & Spice section. Prefer having a scented candle in the bedroom? Try the ones under the Fresh category. More, there are scented candles dedicated for Festive events like Christmas or birthdays. I personally caught a whiff of the Chocolate Layer Cake under the Food & Spice section. If it were only edible, I would already have asked for a free taste. It smelled that good. ❤️

If you’re not yet ready to commit to scented candles, you might want to try the car fragrances. It’s like a car air freshener only nicer,  lovelier, and more addictive. These are perfect for occasional travelers that enjoy lovely scents inside their vehicles. This ultimately creates a relaxing vibe while traveling (and makes the urban traffic more bearable!!!). Yankee Candle PH also has flameless products if you want something that’s more portable and travel-friendly. Being in Uptown Mall, it’s apparent that Yankee Candle PH caters to customers in the middle and upper class. These scented candles may be pricier than others but you can be sure that they are of high quality. So start saying goodbye to those generic scented candles!

Being the photo hoarder that I am, I took as many photos as I could. But I highly suggest that you go see the store for yourselves. Even non-candle enthusiasts would drool. If you live near the area or happen to drop by, give the store a visit and you might find something that you or someone else might like. I promise – it’s definitely worth a visit!

Come to think of it, these scented candles would actually make a great gift to my fellow millennial titas or.. to me. LOL. I can imagine myself curled up in bed on a Saturday night, blogging, listening to some Jazz, and bathing in the goodness of a scented candle. If you think that people love scented candles just because of the “trend” or the “aesthetics”, think again. Scents can actually do wonders to one’s well-being. It’s precisely why we crave to smell a particular scent when we’re in a certain mood.

About these candles, though, I appreciate how the names on the jars speak for the fragrance of each candle. When it says Cotton Candy on the jar, the  candle literally smells like Cotton Candy. And you know what you’ll tend to feel when you smell something as sweet. It brings back memories of childhood, of when your parents brought you to festivals and amusement parks surrounded by carts of varieties of sweets and snacks. Be that as it may, I think it’s easier to choose your fragrance that way. At least you don’t have to sniff every candle because you can trust the labels on the jars.

Some small touches added more details to the stores such as the garden-themed decoration at the window display and the homey details on the shelves. The homey vibe of the store makes it easy for the customers to feel comfortable. In my opinion, this makes any customer’s shopping experience more memorable. The staff were also very knowing about the products, which is always a good plus if you’re not sure what you want. Knowledgeable sales personnel can always be there to guide you through.

Today, Yankee Candle serves 150 various fragrances to its customers. Now that the brand is here in the Philippines, you can also have a chance to enjoy these scents. No need to ask your relatives from the U.S. to buy some for you. I know that one way or another, we’ve all been there! You can find Yankee Candle Philippines stores in these locations:
