Maybelline Inti-Matte Nude Lipsticks | Swatch + Review
For a whole week, I longed for Maybelline Inti-Matte Nude Lipsticks. I kept stopping myself because I recently did a makeup inventory and saw the tubes I have yet to finish. But alas, I gave in. And it was the best decision I ever made. The lipsticks were so good!
Disclaimer: This is my last lipstick hoard for the year. If any of you finds me lingering in the beauty section of the department store, harshly drag me away. Thank you.
Like you probably, I was really confused why the Inti-Matte Nudes line has different formula in the lipsticks. There’s powder matters, there’s creamy… I mean, how is it inti-matte exactly? But I shrugged it off because I was super curious about the colors. They looked so good online, but I wasn’t gonna give in that easily. I wanted to swatch them in person to make sure.
Let’s focus on what I got.
For the shades, I got Almond Pink and Toasted Brown. In my opinion, they were the only colors that suited me. There was a brownish shade in the stash, which I think would also suit tan people, but I didn’t find it appealing on me.
If you already got the powder mattes from their previous line, then you’d know what I’m about to say in this review. IT’S SUPER GOOD. Personally, the powder mattes formula is my favorite among all their product lines. I love how they’re very powdery on the lips plus they are long lasting even after you’ve had a full meal. I didn’t expect them to be that long-lasting, so I was really shookt. Since then, I would always opt for my Touch of Nude whenever I would be torn between several shades.
If you’re not familiar with the Powder Mattes formula, it has a really chalky finish. Imagine literally putting powder on your lips and smacking them together. It feels that smooth and comfortable. The only issue with some of Maybelline’s powder matte lipsticks is they break easily, probably because of the formula. So you might want to take extra care when applying them. Also, with the lighter shades, I found that you have to apply them several times to get a nice pigment on your lips. That’s not really an issue for me since the formula is smooth, the application doesn’t feel irritable.
Since I’ve already pretty much covered the color payoff, formula, and longevity of the product, I’m now gonna focus on the shades that I got.
I suggest that you go to physical stores to check out the shades in the Maybelline Inti-Matte Nudes line. Don’t look them up online as the US has very different shades from the PH shades. It’s another confusing thing about the line, but it’s not new since there are also some products in the US that are not yet here in the Philippines, such as the NYX Lingeries, just for example.
Anyway, I got Almond Pink and Toasted Brown and they’re the most beautiful colors ever. Both glided smoothly on the lips, both were morena-friendly, and they looked matte on the lips without the dry feeling.
Almond Pink is a lovely pink that slighly crosses over the mauve family. It’s not your Barbie Pink, so it’s nothing too bright. On the other hand, Toasted Brown looks like your typical pandesal – color-wise. It looks toasted, but not burnt. Lol, did you see what I did there?
As per usual, I swatched the colors on the back and front of my forearm so you’d see how they look with and without makeup on. The colors are not super exact, but they’ll give you an idea.
I use Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 35 Deep Fonce after foundation. That should let you know my level of morena-ness. LOL.
I tried comparing it with other lipsticks I have, but it doesn’t really have any similar color even in the Maybelline products, so that’s good. You know you’re not getting a dupe of lipstick under the same brand.
This color made me realize that I will always opt for better formula over a nice color. I’m not 100% in love with Almond Pink’s color, but the powder matte finish will make me wear it more.
I super love this shade. It looks like a very subtle brown on me, something deeper than your usual nude or MLBB shade. Plus, I love the formula, so this one’s a winner!
PS, I’m not this fair skinned in person. It’s probably when I edited the photo. The first photo is a bit closer to my real skin tone in person.
PPS, Just A Teaser is such a LIAR. It’s the color I’ve been eyeing because online pictures show it’s a bit peachy and pink. Something I’ve been looking for. But it’s so light in person. This is why you need to swatch in person and not trust images online. Of course, they’ve already been edited to look extra nice. I’m not mad, just saying!
