It’s 8:30 pm on a Sunday and I’m already typing my Magic Monday entry because I feel a little bubbly on the inside. I’m unusually sleepy at this time (it’s very early still), but I wanna share how my weekend went anyway. It was quite eventful, so without further ado, welcome to Magic Monday, a blog series where we list all things nice and worth looking forward to for the week. This blog series aims to uplift dazed spirits, especially on a Monday morning – a friendly reminder that not all Mondays should be hectic and that it can bring a little magic to your week if you let it. ✨
This one’s going to be a bit narrative – not my usual bullet points – as I want to get into more detail. I don’t want to read this in the future and not have any idea what I meant by this and that. Anyway, let’s get on with it!
It was a pretty chill day – the kind of chill I’ve been looking for, in fact. I woke up early (as in at 7am) to write up an article for a client. It’s a one-time project and I’m not complaining. Apparently, I like being busy from time to time. It makes me feel responsible (and credible since someone actually believes in my skills enough). It required some research so I didn’t finish it as fast as I wanted. As soon as I submitted it, I took a glorious 1.5-hour nap in our living room, which I never do by the way. But nowadays, I find myself needing a 30-minute nap or so between the day or else I wouldn’t be able to think straight for the entire day.
When I woke up, I went up to our room to find my mom in bed feeling sick. The AC was on so I took advantage and took a nap. Again. No regrets. Once my mom woke up, we prepared to go to Robinsons Magnolia. I haven’t eaten lunch yet that time (around 3 pm), so I had a rice meal while they had… halo-halo. I forgot how lumpiang sariwa tastes so good! I set an appointment at 4:30 and had my hair chopped off. Ok, a bit exaggerated since my hair was not that long yet. For the nth time, I went for a pixie cut. Apparently, short hair agrees with me. I’m not 100% happy with it, but it’s not so bad either. I’ve come to a point that I no longer care if my hair looks perfect or not. It’s gonna grow anyway. I also bought a box of hair dye and some toiletries.
Oh, and before I had my hair cut, I chanced upon this buy 1 take 1 promo in The Face Shop. I got the Jeju Aloe Soothing Gel for P195. It looks promising. Here’s to hoping it works well on me! I looked for some dresses for Jec’s cousin’s wedding we’re attending in 2 weeks but to no avail. When I got home, I applied the hair dye I got (Loreal in 7.01 Cool Blonde), watched a couple of Game of Thrones episodes, and went to sleep. I really wanted to read blogs then, but I also didn’t want to analyze too much, so I resorted to watching GoT. LOL, as if watching it is not analyzing.
Shopping day. I only had 5 hours of sleep (oh damn, now that explains why I’m already so sleepy right now), but I needed to wake up early to clean our bathroom and prepare for my date (ish). It takes me forever to prepare so I make it a point to start early… and then I only end up being late anyway, as always.
I was in the mood for some comfort food so I told Jec the night before that I wanted those large chickens at the food court (Hot Star). I love their barbecue flavored chicken! After eating, we went shopping for shoes to wear to the wedding. I think we’re both happy with our purchases. I got mine for only P800 and it feels comfy AF. Parisian Plus is my new best friend! That’s a rare compliment for me as I’m very picky with my footwear. I always go for comfort so you will never see me wear trendy shoes. Not saying they’re not comfortable, but I’m not going out of my way for mere looks, gets? Anyway, I was shookt at the quality of the shoes because back in the day they weren’t so comfortable and they only had tacky designs. Times have certainly changed, friends. If you’re wondering why I need to shop at Parisian Plus (or Payless most of the time) for my footwear, I have size-10 feet. Fun fact: My Chuck Taylors are from the men’s department because nothing fits me in the ladies.
I also got a restock on my Maybelline Hypercurl mascara. At this point, it’s the only mascara I trust. It curls my lashes well and I love how it’s legit waterproof. I’m a sweaty person so I love anything that’s waterproof. I also got a bottle of gel for my hair. LOL. I know, it’s funny, but I’m gonna include that anyway because it’s actually in my “to buy” list.
Tired and lowkey cranky (from being tired), Jec and I decided to leave the mall and go to their house. It was only 3pm (the fastest shopping spree we had) so it was scorching hot outside. We got to their house and he cooked pancit canton while I… well, I just existed. I missed the taste of pancit canton as I rarely have any. The flavor with the red pack is too much for me, that I’d say. We couldn’t rest easy at their house, so we just went out again and had a light dinner at Borderline Food Park along Kalentong. I’ve been eyeing this burger stall there for some time now so that’s what we had. It was pretty good. Nothing special, but more promising than your typical burger. It felt nice just chilling there and not having to hurry home. It was only 6:30 at the time anyway.
Finally, we went home at 7 and arrived a few minutes in. Traffic was light despite the heavy rain an hour before. And now that I’m almost done with this entry, I have another blog post to publish this September. Yaasss.
Any happy memories from the weekend that was?
