Hey, guys! So it’s already July. I know, right? Where have the days gone by? Where did the months go? Even I don’t know how to answer that question, but I know a lot has happened. As they say, the year is short but the days are long. I know I’ve been excelling in my creative pursuits, with personal growth, I’m not so sure. So I made the effort of writing down my accomplishments for the previous month. And here are the things I realized:
This is my third Featured Blogger of the Month series. I’m still working on the third volume, but I’m glad I’m able to keep it consistent. It feels just like yesterday when I was sending out my emails to prospective featured bloggers. And now this is my 3rd month! I hope you look forward to the third volume.
By the way, since I’m already talking about this, what do you think of this series? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
Some weeks ago, I pondered on the idea of finally making my own portfolio to help me find clients. In a matter of days, I was able to finish it. I’m really glad I finally pushed through with it. It was stressful and frustrating, and there were times I questioned my own abilities, but now that it’s done, I want to share it with you. I didn’t make a grand introduction on it because I thought it’s no big deal. But it’s still an accomplishment, so here: https://baemilanesportfolio.wordpress.com/
If you ever need writers or know someone who does, please refer me! I’d really appreciate it! Also, blog events!
New blog theme.
If you’re a constant reader, you would have noticed that I changed my theme. I also plugged it on my Twitter account. But in case you haven’t noticed or you’re new on my blog, The Bae Blogs has a new look! It’s minimalist but still functional. It’s so me! Do you agree?
Along the way, I learned some technical things, too, which is always a plus! I learned how to turn the first photos in your blog post as a featured header. I made the mistake of taking featured images for granted. I didn’t think they were really important, so every time I write a new blog post, I only upload a photo before the text.
When I changed my theme, it posed a huge problem for me. None of my blog posts had a featured image. My blog looked empty. I thought my last resort was to upload the featured images one by one. That’s what I did for a couple of days until I thought of researching and so I found these articles:
– For the old WordPress version: https://www.gavick.com/blog/wordpress-automatically-set-post-featured-image
– WordPress Plugin: https://wpsutra.com/plugin-generate-wordpress-featured-image-old-posts/
So I’ve been trying to have a something-step skincare routine, no matter how confusing it is. Since I can’t really remember the entire process, I listed down the routine that suits my skin type. I also made one for my mom since I want her to use all these skincare products she bought but never use, and because she also wants to address her face’s dryness.
As I was cleaning out my photos, I saw this photo of me with all these dark spots on my face. It was ironic that I took that photo for a makeup tutorial. I mean, what was I thinking?! Then I realized how my skin improved so much. I’m glad I found that photo or I wouldn’t really see the difference.
No filter, no edits! Aaaand same shirt. *shame*
I seriously still don’t know how this happened since I only started applying pimple treatment last month, and these were taken with a one-year gap. But I guess it helped to put 5 to 10 different products on your face every night. LOL.
Aside from creating my portfolio, I also inserted my personal touches by drawing illustrations. I just thought it would make a nice addition and there are some things I want to do but can’t do on the computer, so I just did them with my own hands. It’s nice to know I can do these things without forcing them.
“What I love about watercolor painting is it has no rules.I guess that’s why I’m so emotionally invested whenever I paint. People think I live by the rules, but to be honest, I don’t. I really don’t. And painting allows me to rebel in a beautiful and legal way.”
This month was also when I brought back my Magic Monday blog series. It only took one huge push from Iris of Earth Love Skin to make me continue that series. So from then on, I vowed to myself to keep making my lists to inspire people and allow them to see that Mondays can be beautiful, too.

Another push from Iris, I attended this videography workshop where we learned a bunch of things about the craft. I believe it would help me with my future goals. Also, I met a lot of interesting people that day! Read all about it here in case you missed it.
The Bae Blogs Official Twitter Account.
I finally made an official Twitter account for my blog so I can just dump all my blog plugs there. Also because I’m always hesitant to show my personal Twitter account to clients. At least now I have something more professional to show them. Follow me here.
I attended a couple of events this month and I’m glad I did. They somehow helped me find my true niche, what to accept, what to decline.
Museo Destileria Limtuaco.
I’ve been yapping about this museum nonstop and I can’t wait to do its big reveal. It’s a really nice museum and I wish you could all visit it someday once it opens to the public. Anyway, I’m still working on the content, but please watch out for it!
Fit Access Ambassadress.
This month, I made it as a fitness ambassadress. It kinda sucks that I’m doing a disservice to the craft by neglecting my own workouts. It’s always hard to start all over again. But I guess this is a stepping stone for my comeback (for the nth time).
You might be wondering why I have this on the list, but let me explain. I have a really short attention span. I get bored easily. You don’t know how many times I got distracted while writing this blog post! But anyway, I’m glad I was able to watch some of the movies I downloaded recently.
I suck at focusing, so I watch movies to help me address that problem. If I get to watch an entire movie without hitting the pause button or looking at my phone in between, then it means I’m progressing. It helps me NOT multitask.
Cleaned Photo Gallery.
There was a time that I couldn’t take photos or videos anymore because my photo gallery was oozing with content. I had to make room and it called for drastic actions, so I started uploading albums on my Facebook and deleting those photos from my phone afterward.
I just wanted copies of them so I was fine with Facebook (later realizing it reduced the photos’ quality!!!). And I couldn’t use my hard drive anymore since it’s going bonkers already and I’m using a manual photo transfer app so it would only be a pain the butt.
Overall, I was able to reduce my photos and videos from 5K+ to 2K. Now I have 3K+ again, but that’s easier to manage.
Didn’t really expect this to be such a long blog post, but here you go!
What about you?
What were your accomplishments for the month?
