Us Filipinos love buffets for a good number of reasons like bonding with loved ones over food, getting the most of what we paid for, and trying out different dishes.
It’s been months since I wanted to check out this particular restaurant. I read what few reviews I could find online, checked out photos on Instagram, and bombarded Jec with questions. I was convinced that I was gonna love it nevertheless. The reviews online were enough to make me want to go there ASAP.
Finally, I got enough moolah to spend on a fancy dinner so I made a reservation and finally, a week ago (October 15, 2017), Jec and I went to Van Gogh is Bipolar along Maginhawa St. in QC.
It seems like I’m making a habit of reviewing all the restaurants/bars I’m going to recently, but it’s also a great way to challenge myself in writing something that’s not my forte. So without further ado, I give you another restaurant/bar review!
A week ago, We Are Choosy Beggars held a gig in The Woodman’s Head. It’s a somewhat swanky bar in the stretch of P. Burgos in Makati City. I’ll have to admit – my first impression when I went inside was that it was a little intimidating. I guess it was because it’s not my crowd, but the longer I stayed there, the more I felt in place.
DANS Restobar is an isolated restaurant and bar in the stretch of Shaw Boulevard that you’d never expect to love but will. It’s best to go there via car but if you’re commuting, it’s a walkable distance from Starmall. From the pictures, it looks like a huge bar that can house a good capacity of customers, but in the flesh, it’s more intimate and compressed – not that it’s an issue, though!
For a whole week, I longed for Maybelline Inti-Matte Nude Lipsticks. I kept stopping myself because I recently did a makeup inventory and saw the tubes I have yet to finish. But alas, I gave in. And it was the best decision I ever made. The lipsticks were so good!
Disclaimer: This is my last lipstick hoard for the year. If any of you finds me lingering in the beauty section of the department store, harshly drag me away. Thank you.
Oh, it’s a good year for cosmetics, that’s for sure. Women went crazy when Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty. Renown brands continue to collaborate with various celebrities and/or makeup artists. In the local scene, lipstick formula are improving and shades are expanding to give way to different skin tones.
To make things crazier, on September 20, 2017, Anne Curtis and her team officially launched BLK Cosmetics, the actress/host/model’s very own line of PETA-approved and cruelty-free makeup for uncomplicated beauty, as its tagline suggests. Of course, I was one of the many who went gaga over this new makeup line.
