I have so many feelings right now and yet I want to have none.

I don’t find my thoughts deserving of either a 280-character tweet or intentional publication on my social media accounts so I’m writing a blog post instead. Because this is non-disruptive media and you don’t really need to read this. But if you already are, then.. hello.

Looking at my laptop’s current battery at 64%, it made me realize that I pretty much function like it. My laptop is already almost outlet-dependent and like it, I feel the need to be plugged to function or I will die. But in the process of trying to “do”, I don’t allow myself to just “be”. And slowly, unknowingly, I’m also killing myself.

A couple of weeks ago, I placed an order with Fotogra Books. There was no special event, I just simply wanted to try their service and have a Fotogra Book of my own. But, of course, being the fickle-minded individual that I am, it took me a lot of time to pick the photos, edit them, and arrange them accordingly. If you are not meticulous with things like this, it probably would have taken you faster.

Anyway, so I could not put any photos without them having a theme, right? That would be pointless. It would still cost me P700+, for the record. I thought that Jec and I have been dating for a few months now and when I checked my love counter app (is that what you call it?), I saw that we have already surpassed 100 days, so I thought of using “100 Days” as the theme for my first Fotogra Books.

It’s 9:24 on a Sunday morning as I write this blog post. I find myself having enough time to write a quick post, so I do this. I realized lately that I’ve been having a bad case of materialism, a tendency to consider material possessions and physical comfort as more important than spiritual values. This is what has been causing me to want things I don’t need and spend hours looking up online stores on Instagram.

I thought I could write down the things that made me happy lately so I could stop pursuing material things. Surprisingly, the things in my happy list are actually non-material things – they are more of relationships and memories. This goes to show that material things can only do so much to make us happy. At the end of the day, it’s relationships that we should hone more.

Yesterday, September 10, I went out on a date with a good friend, Nikki. We scheduled to meet at nine .a.m., a few hours after her work shift (she works graveyard). Being the close-fisted girl that I am, I chose to take the typical Philippine public vehicles to get to my destination, knowing in my heart that it would be a bit stressful and far. But I also know it’s going to be way cheaper. Haha!

I’m writing this blog post so it can be a reference for others who are going to the same spots I did but do not know how. I’m known for being easily lost (I have zero logistics sense in my body) so trust me when I say that I’ve been lost in this place once, so I already know it by heart.
