I’m an introvert, that’s pretty obvious. And no, it doesn’t mean I’m actually scared of people. I just choose who to engage with. I know people say you should take a break from social media every now and then – and trust me, I believe that and I also do that sometimes – but for me, personally, social media helped me hone my communication skills in ways I never thought I could.  I can’t live without my phone because it allows me to have a life in some ways.

My phone is very important to me, suffice to say. And I’m sure yours is, too. For someone who’s on her phone all day, every day, I naturally like playing around and discovering apps. It was timely that a few weeks ago, Bon of Mobino Inc. emailed me and asked if I could review their app, Pera Swipe. I wanted to be more open to opportunities and I  was also curious how the app works, so I said yes.

Let’s both learn how this app actually works…

When I first visited the National Museum, I was ecstatic. Never in my my life did I even aim to go there. Maybe because none of us in my family strongly felt about art, specifically towards historical paintings. Maybe because we frequented malls more than museums. Maybe because I had no one to go with. Or maybe because, out of a shallow reason, I didn’t know how to go there or where it was even located. So I never went.

But during the first few days of our dating phase, I learned that Jec is a huge fan of history. He really wanted to bring me to National Museum and give me a tour.  So he did. When we got to the Lumad part where you could see the weapons, clothing, livelihood tools, musical instruments,  etc. used by our indegienous people, I just cried. It’s like something strong came over me while I was looking at this particular painting, then I started having goosebumps all over my body, and  the next thing I knew I was crying.

Why?

Because right then and there, through a mere painting, I saw how beautiful our country is, yet we take it for granted. We travel overseas to eat exotic food but put our local travel destinations at the end of our list because “it’s always going to be there anyway”. And it just breaks my heart just knowing that that is a fact.

Moving forward, I had the same feeling when I attended this particular art event in SM Megamall two weeks ago. I didn’t exactly cry. But I saw these sets of photographs and thought, “someday I would be able to take beautiful photos just like that”.  And believe when I say I want to achieve something, I give it all my heart and soul.

I have a friend who is a frustrated lawyer. Let’s call him James. James has a passion for politics, law, government, and the like. His Facebook account could be a proxy for Facebook news pages because of the abundance of news updates he posts on a daily basis. James breathes and lives politics. His genuine interest in the field has led him to follow prominent figures in the industry and to continuously gain knowledge through and from those people. Ask him anything about any current events happening in the country and he mostly has his own opinions on them. Like most, he also has his own political views and preferences.

But you see, James and I are complete opposites. I feel like when God sprinkled “political inclination” to His people, I was on the last row. Also, the thing is, James is not a lawyer. He is also not currently taking up law. He aspires to, nay, he yearns for it, but time and budget are two of his main constraints.  But despite our differences, I wanted to know why he wanted to study law so badly. So when I got invited to attend a Testimonial Party at Manuel L. Quezon University (Victoria Sports Tower Station 2) in Quezon City, I had to say yes!

Writing – it’s way easier said than done. Having a writer’s block is hell yet having a good set of vocabulary may sometimes not be enough to call yourself a writer. Being able to write doesn’t automatically mean you’re already a writer, right? On the other hand, I know we’ve all had our business writing class in high school, but, let’s face it, not every one of us took it seriously. Remember those nights when you had to ask your mom to write a business letter for you because you just. can’t. do. it? Yep, I feel you!

With all these technological advances at our disposal, they’re sometimes not enough. Sure, we have Google to help us out with our small writing needs, but what if we need something more than that? What if we need to actually invest in something that would help us be better writers and, eventually, better employees or *drumroll* employers?

The gym is my safe haven. It’s where I go when I have too many toxic thoughts floating in my head. It’s where I go when I doubt myself but persevere to prove those doubts wrong.  The gym is my happy place, suffice to say. Likewise, I find joy in being an inspiration for others. I find satisfaction in people’s comments that I helped them, that I continue to inspire them, that they started working out because of me. Me. Like, for real?

When I started working out some years back, when I was in 3rd-year college, specifically, I didn’t see myself being a “fitspiration” to anybody. Good Lord, I was so far from that. A few years after, I would look at my bodybuilder inspirations and silently think to myself, “I wonder how it feels to be in their position.” I even had this crazy idea  of entering a bodybuilding contest to prove that I can do it, that I’m stronger and more capable than I think.

Here’s something we seldom talk about but should – sex. But I’m not talking about just sex. I’m talking about love making, relationships, real orgasm, and sexual health. March is women’s month, and I think it’s timely that we talk about things concerning women. Our country is starting to talk openly about menstruation (thank heavens, we’re finally catching up with other countries!). Other than that, another subject that seems so taboo (still) but shouldn’t be is, you guessed it, S-E-X.

So, yeah, let’s talk about sex, baby.
