For a whole week, I longed for Maybelline Inti-Matte Nude Lipsticks. I kept stopping myself because I recently did a makeup inventory and saw the tubes I have yet to finish. But alas, I gave in. And it was the best decision I ever made. The lipsticks were so good! Disclaimer: This is my last lipstick hoard for the year. If any of you finds me lingering in the beauty section of the department store, harshly drag me away. Thank you.
Oh, it’s a good year for cosmetics, that’s for sure. Women went crazy when Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty. Renown brands continue to collaborate with various celebrities and/or makeup artists. In the local scene, lipstick formula are improving and shades are expanding to give way to different skin tones. To make things crazier, on September 20, 2017, Anne Curtis and her team officially launched BLK Cosmetics, the actress/host/model’s very own line of PETA-approved and cruelty-free makeup for uncomplicated beauty, as its tagline suggests. Of course, I was one of the many who went gaga over this new makeup line.
Even before I had my skincare obsession, I was in love with makeup first. Nothing was (still is) more satisfying than swatching lipsticks on the back of my hands and just looking at the colorful displays with heart eyes. My first memory of makeup was watching my late aunt apply her lipstick before going to work. Something in that simple scene struck me. And so my love story with makeup began.
Over the years that I have been existing, I never had a complete (or decent) skincare routine. I always found a way to be inconsistent or to forget about it. But Korean skincare was so much a trend that, one day, I just found myself having so many steps to follow and half of the time, I didn’t know what was for. Over the previous months, I’ve been getting compliments on my skin. It started with my mom telling me my face has been brightening up, followed by compliments from relatives I haven’t seen in a while. They even as so […]
This is a bit late for last #NationalLipstickDay’s shenanigans, but better late than never, right? LOL. Some weeks ago, I got this box of mini lipsticks. It only cost me around P120 for 12 pieces worth of lipsticks. So it’s like I only spent P10 for each piece. So I’m here to share with you the swatches of each color and how I feel about them. I saw the brand in passing inside the department store, particularly in the makeup section. The animations on the lipstick tubes caught my eye. It looked like Veronica from Archie comics. There was also […]
Hey, guys! So I said that I wouldn’t buy any more lipsticks, but… I couldn’t help myself!! I gave in, but I only bought essentials. I promise! By now, you should already know that it’s International Lipstick Day this weekend. You know, sales here and there? Packed Department store beauty sections? Women itching to buy lipsticks they don’t even need? LOL. And in celebration of me and my fellow makeup lovers’ most awaited day, I thought of writing a blog post that focuses on.. you’ve guessed it – lipsticks! This is my own way of celebrating the day because 1) I’m too broke at the moment to buy any more lipsticks and 2) The number of lipsticks in my stash can already last me a lifetime (not counting […]
“You should be spending as much time doing your skincare routine as you would do your makeup.” I don’t know who said that or if that’s a real quote, but I read that somewhere. Anyway, let me tell you something about myself. I love makeup. I love playing with makeup. I love discovering the different ways that I can experiment with colors while making myself look pretty. Men will never get it, but I’m sure some of us consider makeup as art.
